Food Safety & Quality

How we meet the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 — from licensing to labelling to recall.

Kanaka Durga Ventures LLP holds FSSAI [Central / State] Licence No. [14-digit FSSAI Licence No.].

1. Licensing

Kanaka Durga Ventures LLP is a Food Business Operator (FBO) licensed under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011. Our licence number is displayed on this website, on invoices, and on every retail pack. Where products are packed for us by a contract packer, that packer's FSSAI licence number is also printed on the label.

2. Product standards

Our spices are supplied to meet the standards for spices and condiments prescribed under the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011, and the limits in the Food Safety and Standards (Contaminants, Toxins and Residues) Regulations, 2011. Single-spice products contain no added colour, preservative or filler.

3. Labelling

Every retail pack carries the mandatory declarations required by the FSS (Labelling and Display) Regulations, 2020 and the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011:

  • Name of the food and brand
  • List of ingredients (blends: in descending order of weight)
  • Vegetarian logo
  • Net quantity, MRP (inclusive of all taxes) and unit sale price
  • Name and address of the brand owner and of the manufacturer / packer
  • FSSAI logo and licence number(s)
  • Date of manufacture / packing, best before, and batch / lot number
  • Country of origin, storage instructions and consumer-care details

The same information (other than batch number and dates, which are printed on the physical pack) is shown under “Product information” on each product page, in line with FSSAI's directions for e-commerce Food Business Operators.

4. Hygiene & storage

We follow the General Hygienic and Sanitary Practices in Schedule 4 of the Licensing Regulations: clean, dry, pest-controlled storage; food-grade packaging; segregation of raw and packed stock; and first-expiry-first-out dispatch. At dispatch, products have at least 30% of shelf life (or 45 days, whichever is higher) remaining.

5. Traceability

Each incoming lot is recorded with supplier, date and quantity. Each outgoing batch is coded and linked to its source lot and to the customers or distributors who received it. This allows us to trace any product one step back and one step forward — the foundation of an effective recall.

6. Food recall

We maintain a documented recall plan under the Food Safety and Standards (Food Recall Procedure) Regulations, 2017, with a named Recall Co-ordinator and Recall Management Team. Read our full Food Recall Plan →

7. Claims & advertising

We describe our products truthfully and in line with the FSS (Advertising and Claims) Regulations, 2018. We do not make health, therapeutic or disease-related claims about our spices.

8. Report a concern
